Collin’s mom and dad went to high school together and were friends, but didn’t start dating until dad moved back to Key West. After 8 years of marriage, they were thrilled to add a third to their family. Looking at Collin’s photos, it’s not hard to believe that his gorgeous head of hair was the biggest surprise to his parents when he was born. Mom says that the worst part of being pregnant was people asking how she was feeling, because she felt great: no sickness, aches or pains! As a first time mother, mom was prepared for a long and difficult labor, but in addition to an easy pregnancy, Mom was already 8 cm dilated when they arrived at the birthing center. With the doula’s amazing support (for mom AND dad), everything went very smoothly. As he gets bigger, I hope that Collin continues to be this easy going for his parents. The biggest trouble he’s caused to date was with his name. Dad and grandma were completely convinced that it was going to be a little girl, so they just had to find out for sure. Once the sonographer told them they were having a boy, mom couldn’t stop laughing. I can only imagine how challenging the rest of the sonogram was for the sonographer! The long lists of girl’s names had to be tossed. They started working on boy’s names, and came up with a few, only just before he was born. They narrowed it to two, but didn’t actually choose Collin’s name until they met him for the first time.
