It started with a Man Crush!

Mom and Dad met at an Orlando Magic basketball game. They happened to have tickets next to each other. They ended up talking throughout the game and the next day Dad made sure to send Mom a Facebook friend request. On their first meeting, Dad mentioned his #mancrush on JJ Redick and Mom thought it was hilarious.

It’s a Girl!  WHAT a surprise!

Tatum has a 3 year old big brother, so Mom and Dad were both really hoping for a little girl.  However, Nine out of eleven children on Dad’s side are boys.

They received the envelope of the gender results from their obstetrician a couple days before their wedding anniversary.  Dad had his administrative assistant wrap a gift box with either boy or girl clothes.  She was the only one who knew the gender for a full 24 hours!

Mom and Dad went to a fancy dinner for their anniversary, and Dad wanted to open the box as soon as they were seated at their table.  Mom was too nervous, and made him wait until the dessert course!  When they finally opened it and pulled out the pink bear and onesie, they had to double check the envelope because they were so surprised!!  They were so sure it would be another boy.  Mom cried tears of joy!

Labor Shenanigans

As Mom and Dad were packing the car to head to the hospital, Dad decided it would be a good time to try to remove the car seat for the first time.  He was unable to do so.  He asked for Mom’s help, and she couldn’t figure it out either.  They decided to watch YouTube videos on car seat installations, all while timing Mom’s contractions.  After 15 minutes of struggling, they decided to remove the car seat altogether and seek the help of a professional from Buy Buy Baby the day after the baby arrived.  Needless to say Mom was not thrilled that Dad chose that moment to figure out how the car seat worked.  Somehow this same exact situation played out with their son’s car seat three and a half years prior!!!

Luckily Mom has a great sense of humor and can only look back on it and laugh now.
