Family Photos with NewbornThey Meet

Mom and Dad met through friends in 2009.  Eight years later, when expecting their second, mom left a pregnancy test in the bathroom for Dad to find when he got ready for work.  Since Mom got to surprise Dad with the pregnancy test, when it came time to find out the gender, Dad got to find out first and plan a private gender reveal for Mom and Emma that night.

The best part of pregnancy was sharing that they were having a baby with Payton’s big sister, Emma. She loved kissing and touching the belly. They felt she really understood what was coming.

The Name

Mom and Dad couldn’t decide between Payton or Lilly. Dad loved the strong unisex name Payton. Daddy played basketball at Rollins and is very competitive so he is hoping for some athletes.meghan-vail-photography_2052

The Arrival

Mom was 10 days late against doctors orders. She canceled her induction twice because she wanted to stick to the birth plan of going natural. She planned to hire a doula but Dad insisted he could handle that job. Sure enough, he was there rubbing her back through every contraction and scream. It was a crazy fast all natural delivery and was the most exciting and rewarding experience Mom says she could have asked for.  They feel they are deeper in love going through that together and he still praises her for how strong she was to go through it.  What an amazing thing to tell Payton about her birth!meghan-vail-photography_2054

Coming Home

The first moment they walked into the house with Payton and Emma, the girls both had huge poops! (Mom’s words) Payton was crying and when Emma saw Mom and Dad tend to the baby first, she started crying.  First thoughts:  “OMG this is what two kids is like.” Since then, they have adjusted to the chaos and say that it’s worth it all to see the two sisters together and how much Emma loves her.

Mom and Dad have been surprised by how much Emma loves her new sister. Every morning, as soon as she wakes up, she has to run to see Payton.  When she is crying Emma will yell at mommy and daddy until they pick up baby to see what’s wrong. She is such a loving protective sister it’s so sweet to watch. Newborn with Big Sister
