Mom and Dad met through friends at work and when Mom found out she was pregnant she took Dad “breakfast” at the fire station. Breakfast came in a Styrofoam container and said on the top, “Guess what…this is actually a surprise…” Inside the container was the positive pregnancy test and on the inside of the lid Mom wrote “You’re going to be a Dad!”

Mom loved feeling little Emma moving around in the womb and was surprised by those first few movements. The worst part of the pregnancy was the food limitations and the acid reflux. If the Old Wive’s tale is true; that’s why Miss Emma has such a great head of hair!

Emma was almost named Sloan, but after a week of Mom and Dad using the name, they decided it didn’t feel right and liked that Emma had a more feminine tone and seemed to just fit.

Mom and Dad did a great job with baby prep and even say that the car seat was fairly easy. Mom went into labor, her water broke, and seven hours later, Emma was born. She even arrived on her due date, making her one of only a few punctual newborns.

When Mom first saw Emma (after 7 hours of natural child birth!) she thought “I can’t believe she’s here and my goodness, what a full head of hair.” Dad was excited and nervous but happy both his girls were healthy and safe.

The first few days at home for Mom and Emma have been educational. While mom admits there is definitely a learning curve and that sleep is a precious commodity, she is quickly getting the hang of things. “It is truly a blessing and our love grows more each day, more than we {love her more than we} ever thought you could love someone.”
