Mom and dad met through friends of friends and felt an instant attraction. However, due to other relationships at the time, they didn’t begin dating until a year and a half later!
While this wasn’t a surprise pregnancy, finding out they were pregnant did come as a bit of a surprise. They had just experienced a miscarriage the month before so they were not expecting for mom to get pregnant again so quickly. One Friday morning, she looked in the mirror and noticed some body changes. Mom decided to take a test just to make sure. She was elated when it was positive! She immediately drove to dad’s office and called him to come out in the parking lot. He ran out, very worried that something was wrong. His mouth fell open in shock, then broke into a huge smile.
The best part of pregnancy was feeling baby kick and waiting to find out the sex. That’s right, they didn’t find out the gender! When Eliana was born, Dad began crying and mom was crying and laughing with an overwhelming feeling of happiness, not only to finally know the sex but that she was healthy.
Mom and Dad picked the name Eliana Sophia very early on in my pregnancy. It was surprisingly a very easy decision. The boy name took much longer to come up with, and wasn’t needed in the end anyway. Mom is a very organized person and enjoyed spending many hours putting together a design plan for the nursery, then executing it with painting, redoing the closet, making and buying art for the walls, and getting the furniture. She even refinished a dresser from Craigslist to match everything perfectly.
“We could never quite imagine what she would look like. Once we saw her for the first time, she was far more beautiful then anything we could imagine. One thing we did think she would have is a lot of hair, and we were right! We absolutely love being parents and experiencing this journey together.”
