Mom and Dad met back in 2002 at the University of Georgia. They dated for seven years before getting married in 2009. Dad was a junior and playing baseball for the Bulldogs and Mom was a freshman. Dad left UGA after his junior year when he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Fourteen years and two sons later, and they’re still going strong.
After being admitted to the hospital on a Thursday afternoon, the doctor told us he wasn’t going to break my water until 8pm that night and predicted it would be after midnight before baby Brock was born. So my husband, Chaz, went down about 7 pm to get some dinner from the cafeteria. Around 7:20pm the nurse came in to check me and she saw my vital signs quickly change. With terror on her face, the nurse told me that Brock had pushed my water bag out and was about to be born. I quickly called my husband (who had 1% battery left on his phone!) and told him he was going to miss the birth if he didn’t run back upstairs. Thankfully both my husband and doctor made it to the room and Brock was born at 7:27pm.
