They Meet

Mom and Dad went to a small school just outside of Chicago and were high school sweethearts! They took a small break when Dad moved to England to pursue his soccer career and Mom went to college. After she graduated, they spent the entire summer together and she moved to London ten months later! Now nine years later, they are so excited to have two little boys!

They’re Expecting Again

Mom and Dad moved back to the States just this past January (a year ago), and were staying at an apartment in Winter Park. Mom had a gut feeling that she was pregnant, and had Dad stop and pick up a test on the way home from dinner one night. They were so excited to find out they were expecting another little boy!

Mom loved being pregnant with Arden, and their first son, Monroe. This pregnancy came just after an international move and the purchase of a new home, so it went by extremely quickly! Mom and Dad had so many visitors from Chicago and England, which made it fun celebrating the growing bump with their friends and family.

The Name

Mom and Dad have always been on the same page in terms of girl names, but struggled finding a boy name they both loved. In England they lived in a small village just outside of Stratford-upon-Avon before relocating to Florida, and there used to be the Forest of Arden that encompassed the area they lived in for so many years. Shakespeare’s mother’s maiden name was Arden as well, and he wrote about the enchanted forest in some of his works. It just seemed fitting that their newest addition be named after an area they love so much.

The Arrival

Mom says, “It was amazing! My water broke at 1:45 am and we were off to the hospital shortly after. Our friend came over to stay with Monroe and we called my parents and sister on the way to Winnie Palmer. Contractions didn’t start coming until we were at the hospital. It was a quick delivery!

I wanted to FaceTime Monroe when he woke up, and halfway through our little chat I had to give Jonathan the phone back – he was coming! The nurses didn’t even have time to break down the bed, the attendee doctor had to get on the bed with me to deliver Arden!”
